Well at least the outside is near there had to give it a good soaking with sander sealer as some areas are a little soft. This is a rough turned piece donated by [MENTION=1856]Frederick[/MENTION] of this forum. I think I also inherited his camera skills(New computer so getting use to it). I just needed to turn something.

Hello Derek

Was going to drop you a PM later on to see how you were. I think that looks pretty good and will make a fine piece. I didn't think that it was that soft when I found it but you have gone in deeper than I did. The grain looks beautiful and certainly shows potential but you will have to practice a lot harder to achieve my photographic skill...... hope you're well as this virus is becoming worse so stay safe.

Wrapped in cling film then gappa tape should help to hold it together when you’re hollowing.

Only soft in the odd place the bottom half is pretty solid. I have only made it 1/2" smaller so not much smaller than when you gave it to me as it would not fit on the lathe. I did have to re-cut the tenon as it was out of shape due to drying.

I have wasted too many hrs on solving pic probs suffice to say my set up allows me to take and present in about six minutes from taking to showing,summer and winter,morning or night,it devolved early when I decided on a routine I followed now for a very long time. Penmaking IMHO is where I want to be not impressing fellow photographers. For so many years ago I was a contributing member of the largest pro photography group in Australia. I travelled the length and breadth of this country exhibiting,judging as an ACT member of the governing board
It depresses me to say the least when a beaut object is undecipherable as a picture.There are many competent picture takers on the forum,ggod luck.

This bowl has come to a stand still due to a couple of soft spots now awaiting for some hardener as I think it is worth saving. Even with sander sealer which I normally use on softer wood was not doing the trick. So as soon as I can I will complete this one
