is there a minimum working temperature for a BLO/CA finish? I have really struggled today- may be just me having an off day.

works good

I also believe it is down to the product that is used also, i bought a few of the Poundstretcher glue and activator at a £1, i had terrible results, so bad i had to take it back off the blanks the following day. Reverted back to the Vitalbond without issues?

I am having compatability with my one coat then other materials using a spray after the CA so I am making time to naturally dry.

Of course the seasons are reversed now easy for me to do.

Peter.

in my case, it was almost certainly insufficient curing time. it was the same effect as the first CA finish that I ever tried, which was a matter of slapping plenty on! I must have effectively done the same this afternoon, with it not curing in between coats.

I am going to try some of the hampshire sheen that I have seen mentioned on here.

It's virtually impossible to heat my workshop without major alterations so I just give up when icicles form on my eyebrows. :sob:

I have an oil filled rad I use when it's freezing, not something those southern softies would ever use:winking: but I nicked an old hairdryer off my daughter and apply gentle heat between coats of CA while the lathe is turning. Works for me and keeps my hands warm as well.

I finished a military ply pen today with craft coat the first one I done suffered at least 6 months of being thrown around on my workbench and looked just as good as the day I made it then it sold so I'm convinced on its durability as a very good hard finish

Hi,
New to forums but to throw my twp pence worth in.
I have a non heated workshop and use the 10 coat method with accelerator in between each coat. To date I have had no issues. I use the 50mg superglue glue brought from Toolstation which is good value and currently the accelerator from Poundland. My only issue is finding the best way to separate the bushes from the finished article:thinks:
