What did you use as the first liquid coat? Because cedar is possible but so is merisier Prunus cerasus or wild cherry we use a lot of it here. But much depends on the impact of the sealing coat insofar as it changes the colour of the wood.

Beaut timber could be the Cherry family IMHO using a genus name would suffice. Over the long years I have innumerable blanks the ID has faded out or dissapeared. Think of Eucalyptus with its 700 plus species within.

No conclusion Identifying wood is a science when it has a finish on it trebled the degree of difficulty. Trust you can track it down conjecture abounds.
