Yes you read that right.
In return for a pen I have been given a really nice piece of coprolite which for those of you who don't know is fossilised dinosaur poop! I'm sat here looking at it and its roughly pen blank sized and I'm just wondering if anyone here has turned stone? if so got any advice?

You can turn more or less anything with the right tools and techniques, dinoturds included I imagine. Whether or not you've got the right tools or have access to the right techniques will depend on what sort of stone your particular piece of cretaceous crap is made from. That's where you've got to start I think.

Having turned Wooly Mammoth Molar I cut the blank using a 4inch bandsaw, drilled with an Artu Drill to the nearest then a standard drill. Turned using Carbide Cutters 15mm square, sharpened by placing the cutter face down on a diamond file (few rubs ).Enclosed pic of the drill I used There are Artu agents all over including the UK. Good luck mate.

Peter.

What is dinosaur poop worth?
A pile of dinosaur dung 130 million years old sold at a New York auction for nearly $1,000. The prehistoric deposit fetched $960 at Wednesday's auction, said a spokeswoman for Bonhams New York. Its pre-auction estimate was $450. The fossilized dung is from the Jurassic era, the auction house said.:thinks:
