I used carbide cutters on the first ones I made and they did work well and sharpened very easy by just laying them flat on a diamond stone and giving them just a few rubs but not as there not as good as the ones I used on the last one I made from this guy he dose the round and square tip the square ones Doug put up from axminster seem to be about the same and should work very well  2"(50mm) Radius Carbide Insert Cutter for Woodturning Chisels Easy Wood Tool Ci1 | eBay
