Carbide Tipped Tools

Thought I would have a try at making some tipped tools this is the first 3, I have tried them and they cut really well but are much more aggressive than my other tools after a few digs I have found I need to be more gentle when starting a cut. I am going to try and make some swan necks next.

These are less aggressive than the cupped inserts and can also be resharpened on a diamond plate.

This is the last tool I made for the 9mm round insert.

Carbide tools remove timber very fast. Cut on Centre, keep your tool level & press the tool down onto the toolrest with your thumb. You should be ok.

I find they are best on acrylics, be gentle and keep control that’s the key.

Like you I made a set of these some time back and found them quite aggressive . You will get used to them with a bit of practice.

Great job on making the tools, they are not my cup of tea I prefer standard tools. I have a set of commercially produced tools like yours and they sit in the cupboard doing nothing for 99.99% of the time as I have used them on the very odd occasion.
