It came with a promise of better things and a load of Yankee bullshit but at least I got something for my money of him on this occasion.
It's not a little one, at a guess it's about 24 -26 inches diameter nice and dry in shed init, I made a coffee table from it and took it to bits again.

I did see a barrel top table in a craft shop, they were asking £400 for it, dunno if it ever sold cos I was on holiday there.
I could cut it into pen blanks and flog em at £2.00 a time and double me money I psose but can't be arsed init?

Some casks I have turned were French Oak the thought you can smell the previous contents the answer is yes as you cut and prepare removing the burnt sections then like all pens sealed with the variety of finishes effectively neutered.
