Cast Acrylic

Hi all,

I know that I keep asking a lot of questions but hopefully members will be able to help me again.

I am slowly working towards making my own Acrylic casts and have a few ideas that I would like to try. One idea I have is to "float" items in the cast.
I was wondering if a clear cast could be made and then another cast made on top without any visible evidence of the join. Something on the lines of those trophies which have globes etc
supported in a solid block.

Ultimately, I would like to try and put a small rolled photograph in a casting, turn it down and use it as part of a pen. I would have thought that I am not the first to think of this, but
would love to give it a try if practical or feasible.

[MENTION=1298]Sawes[/MENTION] made some beauties for me! i think he wrapped the tube and then cast in clear medium the turned beautifully and look amazing when i get them made up ill post some pics.

Wrapping the tube is best way to go for pen turning as this ensures a smooth finish and a consistent resin depth over the image.
As for suspending in resin you can do as a double pour but there may be a slight difference when looked at it from an angle.

Thanks Sawes, just what I wanted to know. Also wrapping the tube as suggested is a good idea as well.

I believe this was a suspended or wrapped photograph.

Be aware the heavy items sink to the bottom and get turned off. DAMHIKT
