Good Afternoon all,
I come from a small village called Llangyndeyrn in West Wales, and this last week there has been lots of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the village winning a fight against the Swansea Water Authority, who wanted to flood our village to provide water for Swansea.
On Friday evening there was a black tie dinner and auction to raise money for the Village and various charities.
For more information on the fight, please click here, it's a great and very inspiring story!
Llangyndeyrn
Anyway, I made a pair of pens and a custom box for the evening.
The pens are Jr Gents, with one fountain (ash) and one rollerball (apple). The wood is ash and apple from the village, and the box is made from the same wood.
The decals were added to the inside of the lid, and then I signed it and sealed it with clear lacquer before finishing with a little wax.
The black decal says 'Mewn Undod Mae Nerth' which means 'I Unity there is Strength' which is inscribed on a monument that was erected in the village for the 25th anniversary.
I'm thrilled to say that the set went for £170 on the evening, and one gentleman asked if I would make another if he matched the donation to the village, couldn't say no could I!
Thank you for looking.
