A commissioned Celtic fountain pen, made from a 100 year old Oak church pew, sealed with shellac and polished with Hut ppp polish. And my wife's Celtic twist ball pen made from English Yew, finished with shellac and CA glue.
I found that the Oak was very dry.

Love the Yew blank Kelvin although I think the colour of the kit parts fit a bit better with the Oak. Spotted these kits recently but must admit the green 'gem' threw me a little, wonder if it could be replaced easily?

Thanks guys for your comments,
The yew pen made for my wife had a soft grain on one side just under the pen clip. I had to CA glue it every third passing cut. In the end it was hard enough to cut and polish. All of my Yew blanks I cut from one piece of yew that I purchased from a small shop in Bronwydd, Carmarthan. All the photos of my pens are taken by my wife, one of her many hobbies which include, hand carving, turning bowls (on my lathe), pastel painting of pet portraits and disabled carriage driving.
