I can't remember what this wood is. It could be Yew or Elm. Celtic knot is Walnut veneer.

Great work. As Mark said, very neat and tidy, and a good contrast too. (I don't think the main wood is either yew or elm though - it looks like it could be maple or sycamore)

Hello Phil

Thanks for this. I rotated it and it still came out upside down. The logic fails me at times.
As to the wood, you are more than likely correct. It was sent to me by Pierre who even drew out
the guide lines for me.

In that case, if it's from Pierre, it's Merisier (French wild cherry)

Actually, I thinks its the Pear from my garden, I can't remember, I know I wrote the names on the wood but its too light for Merisier. It could also be the Elm sapwood.

Thanks for this. You have put my mind at rest and I will know next time. He did label the wood he sent me, but in a moment of madness I sanded it off and forgot to re-write it. It's an age thing. :rolling: Lovely wood and turns well.

Cheers Pierre, It's certainly is lovely wood. I loved the colour and the odour it gave off when cutting, very sweet, and I still have enough for another blank........
