Copy away 4 pieces of standard veneer should fit into a 3 mm table saw kerf. but I forgot to say his mum wasn't too pleased I sent him home with his hands full of glue since each piece has to be glued together!! Note if you use Lakeland aluminium foil its thicker than the supermarket's pierce a few holes with a pin to allow the glue to bind its easier than sanding it!!
