Right... what I'm on this forum for really....

Woody put up some bullet pens earlier and I noticed he'd put the clip on the side rather than on the top. I took this a a challenge as it was so good I just had to do it. Well it was a challenge too but I'm glad I persevered. I've also got a set of bushes now to make the nickel ones.

Woody I have an 11 1/2 inch (bragging as if) indeed that size in length mini fluro tube in a reflector from a light fitting sold to illuminate paintings on a wall. I sometimes use this as a top light when photographing my pens since the light runs parralel the reflected shine gives what you could be seeking its worth a try, ie two side lights and this overhead sitting on my open top frame of conduit. The kelvin rating of the tube is simply stated as daylight the standard sought to light paintings and photographs. The wiring is simple the ballast, starter and lampholders are all in series most ballasts have a printed circuit diagram on them anyway. I use a flex to the lamp housing and house the ballast separately. If it would assist tonight when the house settles I can take pics of this st up, let me know.

Kind regards Peter.

I haven't tried any of the nickle ones I got from Alex. Why do you need special bushes Paul?

Lovely pen btw:thumbs:

Because the nickel coating is so thin you can't use the bullet parts to turn the wood to just in case you scratch it. Previously with the brass ones I assemble it all and turn the wood to the casing.

I just turn mine between centres but we all get the same outcome in the end

Unfortunately you have to be good to do that Woody. Despite having nuclear measuring devices that measure down to the micron, I still get it wrong so always rely on bushes.

I feel very humble Woody.
