I make quite a lot of these and they sell rather well. I don't normally bother to post "routine" stuff but this one gave me so much bother I decided to photograph it.

I painted both the tubes and the inside of the blanks with white primer and then (mistake) to save time I did what I normally never do and glued the tubes in with CA. Result was that the tubes came unstuck during turning so when I got down to size I had the most wonderfully mottled brass tube show through imaginable. With a lot of care and a big hammer I managed to get the tubes out without damaging the loose but by now very thin, acrylic and once cleaned up and repainted (tubes and blanks) glued them back together properly with epoxy.

As it was late yesterday evening by the time I got round to doing that I rushed the job and managed to get some glue inside one of the tubes that I did not notice until too late so another ten minutes wasted clearing that out this morning before I could get them back on the mandrel to polish.

After all that here is the result. (Including a horizontal shot to save Brian from whingeing.)

A good recovery Walter and while I think the stylus is liked by many people I tend not to make a lot because I think they make the pen too long. I need to experiment to see how short I can make the pen to see if the overall affect is better.

Thanks for all your kind comments chaps.

I agree Paul, I think the extra tip length makes the pen look unbalanced, but I make quite a few things I don't much like but sell well.

That's a lovely blank Walter and worth the save
I agree with you and Paul about the length of the Slimline stylus, but they do sell well :nooidea:
