I had one if those days to day everything went wrong. I had a blank shatter . So I gave that up after wasting two blanks. Decided to have a go at a churchill couldnt get the tubes to fit. The kit says dril sizes are 13.3 I can not find that drill size anywere I dont have a 31/64 either so I gave that up. Decided to have another go at making a nib section with some ebonite. A utter disaster. At this point I decided enough is enough and gave up on it.:rolling:

I worked out the nib section failure the wrong size die. It only works if the tap and die are the same pitch.:whistling:

In future when deciding on new kits to use the first thing I will do is check drill size if I don't have the appropriate drills I won't be ordering them.

I think you did the right thing and give up for the day start afresh this morning may bring better luck.

Why manufacturers make tubes in metric sizes that are not either a whole number or .5 of the size which is most common I do not know or is it they just convert from imperial to metric.

Cor!!!! and I thought it was only me that had days like this. :funny:
I find that if you leave a job that's not going too well and return, perhaps the following day,
usually works. The simplest of solutions often evade us when tired.

Best of luck withit all

Cheers
