I just finished half a pen. The blank has pin holes in it that I didn't notice, and they got filled with slurry when I wet sanded it. I've tried a brush and compressed air, but neither worked. Any ideas? Acetone or denatured alcohol, maybe? Will either attack the plastic? The upper body has holes in it too, that may or may not turn out. The blank is a Rhino called My Two Cents.

Blanks poured come with some degree of problems you cannot tell until you turn them round and down I like the smaller round ones for this reason.

It doesn't happen often, but when it does I use one of these a photographic blower I was give half a dozen cans of compressed air, but it is far too expensive to buy that.

Well, I've tried rubbing alcohol; a dental pick; a sharpened piece of paper clip; and a blowgun with a very thin tip. All I've managed to do is put a scratch in one of the bodies.

Recently I have found problems using Farecla that I love with dark timbers it will outline and burn in around natural knots etc then the occassional little animal tunnels filling them with CA gives enhancement under light by reflection in wood a fill of powder fine wood I acheive with my Coffee Grinder only bought and dedicated to the task. It is a real bummer when these pots of dots show up in an otherwise beaut blank like you use.

I have problems with pin holes too in the finish so I am watching this thread with interest. I have wondered if it is the spray accelerator that causes this but am not sure am going to try to leave a couple of minutes between coats just to see if it makes a difference if it does not then that theory will be blown out of the water.

Bob, I think this is referring to pin holes in acrylic blanks ... therefore no CA or accelerator required .... stand to be corrected

If you are talking about timber blanks, I reckon that's a "hole" other problem .. :winking:
