Ok, so I've decided to have a go at clear casting the music pen (see thread on pen forum)

So I need a clear resin casting kit? Any recommendations?

I only need a small amount, probably 500ml max. The cheapest seem to be on eBay, but I'm guessing you get what you pay for?

I will be going passed Axminster (High Wycombe) next week, do they sell them?

If you're not geared up with a pressure pot and all the rest of the paraphernalia you need to cast polyurethane resins, you just need the right mould for your chosen pen and a small tin of water clear polyester resin (which needs neither pressure or vacuum for good results).

I know that a lot of the experienced casters (of which I am not one) use this stuff

I would stick with other finishes and timber if budget is critical. Every time I take on a special challenge I have to be prepared for a budget blowout. Perhaps it is worth it.

I know what you mean, but it’s just a bit of fun, so no real harm. If it fails I’ll buy the music pen kit from axminster. Or a book token!
