I have never made one Alan, I’m a twist and Rollerball guy, but I would be interested in what folks have to say. :thinks:

Take a look at the Beaufort Tempest Alan. I designed it precisely because click pen kits have a poor reputation, and yet if you go around any stationery shop, or look at the pens that people actually use in the workplace, they are mainly all clickers. Turners all make twist pens when the end user wants click pens, and I wanted to do something about it.

Beaufort Ink introduced the Tempest in 2016, and since then, with many thousands out in the market place, we have not had a single report of a failed mechanism, or a failed anything else for that matter, and without wishing to seem conceited, it is probably the most reliable click pen kit on the market.

Click pens have always been controversial.....until the Tempest, I only did Vertex because of its reliability, but now I love the Tempest...click and go and no problems:thumbs::thumbs:

Mixed feelings on all kits, I confess to having preferences based on how they come together and operate, fit in the pocket, refills ,clips etc. There are so many differences these days I fear the need for a computer driven record of needs will happen.

Basically for me the ability to use my favourite timbers gets precedence. Economy is vital for me so I look for the best value. Good on you the suppliers who consider their customers and provide best practices. Living in isolation in the opportunity to see and choose with the nearest supplier 200 miles away is not the factor of getting but seeing and experiencing the interchanges that help from time to time.Recently I ordered kits from the 200 mile supplier Timberbits in the afternoon routinely, next morning on my doorstep delivery for thirteen dollars proves I have a reliable supplier that I value.

With regard to click or twist, push or shove actions I agree the Click is by far a great way to use a pen, so yes reliable actions are necessary. In relation to this our family experience has been varied but one thing is certain the cheapest of pens sold in the market place have rock solid actions such as those pens with several colours are reliable and simple setting the standard necessary for us to provide if we can a better mousetrap (read pen) to get the public to want to buy our pens.

Hi,

I can only add to the above that I have made an Athena and it seems to work ok, Saying that, it has only been in use roughly six weeks or so. It has a good solid action which does promote confidence.
Any updates would be gratefully received. Good question which, I suppose, only time will tell.

Cheers

Sold dozens and dozens of them.
Can't go wrong.

Thanks for the above Phil, and I'll be getting in touch soon to order a few. Why the odd sized drills needed?
