Just getting back into after few years hiatus. Made nice figured walnut pen and after a few hours started get cloudy/white under CA. Is this from moisture? Or from using mineral spirits to clean off sanding dust ( but always used ) , maybe didn’t let dry enough? Aghhhh

I suspect the mineral spirits myself. It is an oily product somewhere in the Stoddard solvent family (Varsol etc) to Kerosene, or Paraffin in your parlance. It leaves a little behind when it drys depending how pure it is. Acetone and alcohol leaves nothing behind behind when dry. I'd switch to Acetone or alcohol to wipe off oily wood and wood like Walnut, I wouldn't clean at all unless you have oil or grease on your fingers. Keep the mineral spirits for cleaning/thinning oil based paints and parts washing when fixing cars and mowers.
