Evening pen people.

Very occasionally things come out as I imagine them, which is nice.

Made from Cocobolo with a bit of bronze (rings) and some rose gold plate (Bock nib and pocket clip).

I used some acrylic for the finials and section and to line both barrel and cap.

The nib is fed by cartridge/converter and the cap threads are 13mm triple lead, needing 1.5 turns to remove the cap.

Finished with Phil’s melamine process, which I adapted very slightly to give me a satin finish on the wood as I like the contrast between the matt wood and polished rings/resin.

Cheers
Ash

Thanks for posting Ash, it’s a thing of beauty! It’s what I’m aspiring to be able to achieve - fancy taking on a 60 year old apprentice 😆?

Thanks Alex.

I could really do with a bit of help now you mention it. Bit of a commute though… 😊

It looks beatiful Ash. What did you do to "adapt" the finish?
Thanks Phil.

For the finish it’s just a case of an extra coat of melamine and not burnishing really. I do knock back after the first coat of melamine using 00 wire wool (hence the extra coat) and then I don’t burnish in between supplementary coats. I do everything else the same including the final wax.

I do sometimes use your unaltered approach for a glossier finish too. Much prefer it to ca.

Cheers
Ash
