Here are a few from this weekend:

Cross cut Cocobolo on Guardian Jr.

Curly Mango on chrome vertex

Verawood on gold plated Graduate rollerball

Pomelle Bubinga on Pressimo

Lastly, Malaysian Blackwood burl on gun metal Graduate rollerball. I bough 4 pieces of this ultra rare burl a year ago and this is the second piece I've made. It is by far the most difficult I've ever worked with! It's full of cracks and holes. All the holes, tiny, have to be filled and then I wet sand with thin CA a couple of times to fill and seal all the checks. CA takes forever as I have to knock it back down to smooth it out. A real pain but stunning.

Yorkie, these are al stunning pens with great looking wood on them, but the Malaysian Blackwood is something different, the close up lets you see how lovely the grain is ... You need to tell us where you get your supply of Burrs from ... :winking:

Yorkie,
What the site is all about inspiration, admiration, dedication to detail, experimentation etc on the final pen. Off shortly on an excursion driver duties with family will digest these more fully this evening when I return. Can I say for now that three of them are exemplary choices ,various kits beautiful timbers, exciting pics and finishes. You certainly gave me dwelling time as I travel today thank you. Remembered how critical the length of the blank turning is on Vertex Pens, our Aussie Blackwood does flame like that reminds me of the old shot silk ties we used to wear. Having said all this the fourth pen continuity is beaut and on its own delightfull.

Kind regards Peter.

Thanks, guys. I get a lot of my burrs from islewoods in Hawaii and from Australia. There's also a guy in Canada who has a collection of super rare and spectacular burrs, he doesn't sell them often, but if you get him to sell you one or two, he'll open up and sell more. Most of this stuff I've been collecting for years and just be prepared to overpay in bidding wars on Ebay. There's also a guy in the states who has a lot of rare burrs-burlsource.com. When on google.com, not .co.uk, search 'burl' not 'burr' and you'll find them. Be careful of some of the guys, especially islewoods in Hawaii as he is very, very good at varnishing and lighting his wood to make it seem more spectacular than it is, but he's still got a lot of the best stuff. I hope that helps.
