Grr. Argh. Sob. <insert end of world etc.>

I'm making a pen for my Mum for her birthday on the 8th of May, although I'm going away on hols on the 5th. Gave myself plenty of time to make a couple of sample click pens for her to try, she'd already picked the wood (Pernambuco) from a stash I'd picked up and selected the Stratus last weekend.

Enter tonight (possibly stage left).

Squared off the blank after 24 hours for glue curing, turn it down, started sanding it down, went up and down the grades as I spotted deeper lines (still learning) and finally got it to 600 grit looking smooth.

Cleaned it off and checked, couldn't see anything obvious to the naked eye and so proceeded with the Craftcoat. First lot on... what the bleeding nora is that? Looks like a deeper scratch I missed that only showed up after applying the first coat. :sob:

Back up the grits again, this time double and triple checking. More than happy now that I've finally smoothed it. Finished with a quick swipe of white Nyweb. Looking good!

Craftcoat reapplied, a few layers, all looking good. Applied the fifth, looked away to whatever music video was on Youtube... 45 seconds later back down for another coat... Eh... What's that? WHAT'S THAT?!

Careful studying appears to show...a bluddy hair!... stuck under the last layer on the right end of the pen. :vangry:

Well... that was me for the night. Called it quits, turned everything off and headed indoors, wasn't going to risk touching it again. I'll sand it back and sort it tomorrow.

Pass the whisky eh!

No black labrador Bob, although I seem to have acquired our neighbours cat as a garage mate! I suspect my own current pitiful growth of a goatee is to blame.

Bloody nora Greg how big are the spiders in your shed?:funny::funny:
You'll get it done. When stuff like that happens it's always best to walk away.
