After my last burr I did want colour to be added as well as a bit of banter from Ed on another forum I added colour to this one. I just experimented and to be honest I am not sure on it but the wife likes it so I will keep it.
Just for interest it is 7" X 2 1/14" sprayed with spirit stain and finished with Hard wax oil. It is a chestnut Burr

Lovely bowl Derek, very nicely done

The colour is a matter of taste - as turners/workers of wood, I think many of us have a preference for the beauty of the timber, but those outside of the hobby see it with a different eye. Just my thoughts.

Contrary to one or two other opinions, I'm not against colouring wood, even good looking burrs - a lathe is just the tool we use as part of a process, and if colour is also part of the process then that's fine with me. But on this occasion Derek, I'm not sure it's been as successful as some of the other pieces you've shown recently. I'd have stuck with the naked wood on this piece I think - sorry.

No need to be sorry. If I get it right all of the time it would not be fun as they say we learn from failures
