Coloured Pencil

I like to do a bit of drawing so I thought I'd turn a mechanical pencil. It is turned from lime, the centre part which I have coloured and I think the darker wood is African blackwood. The kit is from Prokraft and I left the clip off because I think the shape looks better without it.

Thanks John, yes the artwork is mine, I do it mostly in the winter when my workshop is colder than an eskimo's doormat

You can,t get kittens from a cat named George but man can he design a new way to display and make a pencil using his own fantastic (my wife an artist just showed it to her and she agees 100%).Stimulating and beautiful.

Wait! Make a pen or pencil for someone to use to make something beautiful? How novel!

We take our own craftsmanship so seriously ( "too seriously?") when, in fact we are making tools for others. (Don't get me wrong. I want to make beautiful pens too, but the things I do with my pens should be better.) This is a lovely tool and it was part of something even more lovely. George - I think you have hit both nails soundly on the head - and you did so with humility. I am happy to have seen all of your work. Congratulations, sir.

Nice how did you colour it?

Hi Ant, it was coloured with inktense. I use inktense blocks made by Derwent when trying to do artwork. The colour range is good and they are mixed with water. I find the main advantage is that once they are dry they are permanent so do not bleed when putting a finish over the top.
