This pen came about after I posted up my Submarine pen that David CNC 'ed the blank for me.
And as you all know 'Andrew' from Fionaspen is also into CNC'ing and creating some amazing blanks / inlays.
He has a brother who also served in submarines and wanted to create one for him. He asked for my help in the initial design which I found to be really interesting, the steps that it takes to create these is amazing. The selections of different coloured woods to create the effect we wanted.
The woods Andrew used are :

The main background is Stabilized and Coloured Blue Maple which beautiful.
The Crown and Dolphins - Osage Orange
The Red in the Crown - Chakte Kok
Black between the Dolphin Faces - African Blackwood
The Anchor - Brass and CA Glue.

On completion, the inlays were laid and glued in position. Andrew asked me if I would turn it for him. I was both chuffed and nervous at the same time, would I mess this up.
I will let you all judge us .....
:bwink: Comments welcome

I think it's pretty safe to say you didn't mess that up.

That's a superb piece of work by both of you. Great choice of woods. Fabulously made and finished.

It's a cracker, perhaps David could join the consortium and design a box for it and for added authenticity you could soak the box in diesel!
