Cone pen

This is something I had been meaning to try for a while. Alder cones (I refuse to call them mini pine cones) cast in PR. I stabilised them first using wood hardener and a very weak vacuum using a hand vacuum pump. I had quite a few chip outs that had to be repaired, so I'm not sure how effective the stabilising was, but my main concern was preventing the cones gassing in the resin. CA finish to seal. Yes, I know I should have had the nib out - I only noticed it later!

It looks very pretty so if the stabilisation was not completely successful this time I would say it is worth having another go. I like it.
