Do you have hair ? ...would you like to tear it out in handfuls ? If yes then try making a white and chrome Sierra or an Empress fountain pen using Corian.... don't know if its me ( probably !) or a bad batch of the stuff (possibly !) ... but my luck with this stuff is all one way ..BAD !!. It just splits for fun. You just have to look at it and Splittt ! The rest is going on a journey with the bin men ...unless someone wants to do a bit of hair yanking, in which case PM me your address and you can have it FOC.

Said it before and I'll say it again.
If they had been joined correctly there would be no line, it should be fused not glued.
Send them back from whence they came and ask for a refund.
There has been no penetration of the weld.

Yes you did Brian:thumbs: ...I was hoping that it could be due to me trying to drill 15mm holes into a 20mm blank. It takes a 10.5 mm bit for a Sierra OK without parting ,but it is now splitting apart when assembling on the pen press.

Never seen this occur before Ed, so the corian is actually glued? :thinks:

Jim , I think the solid sheets are a maximum 12mm thick ; anything thicker is glued together ..

I could be wrong Jim but the maximum thickness has recently been increased with new machinery to 18mm.
Before then it was 6, 8 or 12 mm thickness's only.
I am going on memory from when I used to make it so I could be wrong. I have slept since then init.

If it's properly joined you should not see it.
That would be correct Jim when joined correctly the material actually becomes one piece by molecular structure of the monomers.
They should be agitated together much like ultrasonic welding in theory.

Is it Corian or the competitor Marlan? Marlan comes in 24mm thickness as well as 6, 12, an 18. Very similar in appearance and properties.
