Who'se been a busy boy then. I think the platter is Elm, the goblet was a scrap piece of split Oak and the tea lights are made from Walnut and Maple bits.

Good looking pieces Frederick and it looks like you have cracked the photography lark.

Alan

Thank you Alan. It was Pierre who solved the problem of upside down pictures. Apparently it's a software problem that Ipad and Iphone's have. It may be cured by croping the photo and then saving it.

Some nice pieces Frederick but not sure about the Elm bowl as the wood resembles Yew, but then I could be wrong and usually am according to the wife:whistling::whistling::whistling:

Hello Derek

It very well may be Yew, My wood identification skills are rated well below zero. I did try to research it but there are so many woods that look similar that I gave up trying. It has a brilliant mauve stripe running though it as well which I like. Didn't have the heart to colour this one......definitely a case of LOB.......(lack of bottle)..........

Cheers,
Frederick

Frederick,

It’s yew, definitely, and the purple streak whilst beautiful should be treated with caution as it is a sign that there is a ferrous foreign body somewhere in the wood, can typically be a nail or the remnants of a barbed wire fence that the tree has grown around.
