No wonder the Cheshire Cat in Alices Adventures Underground smiled. When I worked for Rank Xerox in the 1960,s on we were given a Xerox copy of the original manuscript of that book that became known as Alice in Wonderland.
My wife is an avid Crochet person and with the addition of the ripper pointed out the advantages of having both on the one product. She pointed out she has never used both on the one project but with the safety cover on the ripper it is two separate , handy units.
For too many years Wilma was an avid cloth Doll maker of note as well as a prolific quilter, lace maker etc when the ripper would be an asset.
Not sure if you have heard of Felting needles but my thoughts went to an adapter to fit one that could easily be adapted to fit where the Crochet Hook is.
Cloth Doll makers use them to insert hair on Dolls they are barbed in reverse pushing the hair into the head of the Doll. I bought mine forever ago at a Commercial Felting Factory.
So we commend you for making an attractive dual use unit, love the handle.
Peter.
