Crop end tutorial

Peter asked if I would do a tutorial using crop ends of acrylic blanks.

Pics 1&2 shows the loose crop ends beside a card template which I use to form the new blank.

Pics 3&4 show the crop ends glued together on the template with med ca after scoring the glossy edges with abrasive.
Depending on the length of the crop ends I glue them at an angle of 90 degrees to 45 degrees. Where possible I glue them at 45 degrees which gives a longer glue line & is less visible to the eye.

Pic 5 shows the blanks cut to size, drilled & trimmed ready for turning.

The following pics show the finished pens. It's better than wasting the crop ends

Thanks Bill I admired the dark pen when you showed it recently now I am further impressed seeing as how you made it. Love the process.

What a good idea Bill I shall have to have a sort out of my cut ends box instead of thinking do I keep them or throw them away

That is a marvelous tutorial Bill, it is very difficult to see the joints in the pen my friend .. :thumbs:
