To get a depth of focus on an angle like that you probably need to focus stack ( or or course use a ‘proper’ camera with full movements!). Focus stacking is pretty straightforward if a bit laborious. It involves taking a series of pictures from precisely the same position ( use a tripod) but with the lens focused on a different point in each frame. The series of images are then merged together ( use Photoshop or a stacker software to make the job easier) to make a single image with all the relevant points in focus. Insect photographers do this all the time and get some incredible results. Lots of info on the web.

LOL, I saw this thread second. I'm working back in time as life got busy.
LOvely pen and I do enjoy seeing it turned. I have a few more of these blanks, but I need to stop my segmenting to appreciate some full lengths of timber.

A lovely pen I like xcut blanks, they can show more character in the timber.
