Hi All,
I'm not a dinosaur and I do like to be in with the trends, but I have never really been a fan of tct turning chisels. I bought a square mini one from Easy turn years ago used it a couple of times and went 'Nah' don't get me wrong I know how to sharpen a skew or gouge so I'm not looking for lazy tool, they have to work in my workshop.
I bought this on my recent Axi trip and I have to say I'm quite impressed. It has a nice weight to the handle and seems to cut(if you can call it that) very well. I even had ribbons coming off an acrylic blank. It doesn't seem to be too angle fussy with presentation, unlike my previous venture.... Time will tell

i prefer them to traditional tools tbh, but thats probly cos im lazy and crap at sharpening stuff

Like a lot of traditional tools they have their place m8 I used to make these many years ago for people who had problems with sharpening conventional gouges to me they are just another scrapper but they stay sharp a lot longer but to be honest I am not a fan of them I have found a lot of new turners get stuck on them and dont progress onto other far superior tools that give a better finish and which is a shame

I used to be a carbide snob but now realize they are another tool in your tool box. I actually now have a significant amount of carbide in my cabinet.

I used them all of the time and loved them.

I did a sharpening guide for them as what we often think is sharp (factory, etc, ) is not.

Carbide tools have their place but like any tool you have to practice. I can p lane like a skew with mine & get a decent finish. I was brought up with traditional tools & feel more comfortable using them but I use carbide for fast removal of timber.
