One other piece of wood I'm really keen to use is something a mate handed me the other day. A really beautiful chunk of Gorse trunk that he's had for years and not really known what to do with it. I'd never thought of gorse as something useful for turning (as gorse iw usually associated here with discomfort & swearing, and black clouds from it burning on the hills), but the colour, grain & pattern is stunning I think:
