Yes I said to him he would get the first pen made from it as a thankyou for the donation as it's well seasoned and a nice piece.

Don't think any of the kits I've got in stock have finials you can remove as such - will check though.
I'll look up doming resin too, thanks! Dealt a fair bit with polyester and epoxies in boat world, but not heard of that before.
