Finally finished the Apple vase i started a lifetime ago. Split to hell, so I got my carvers and my finger paints out and went to town. I set each stone with a pair of tweezers and set them with thin ca. Acrylic lacquered the whole thing. Much fun !!

Sorry Brody I am going to be brutal but it just looks wrong with all the carving. I personally would have liked to see the blue stones highlight the crack with some smaller stuff to fill the thinner ones and keep all the rest black. Or possibly rub gold, copper or the silver gilt into the cracks first then put the stones in.
The good thing is that you did a great job on the turning of the piece

Derek mate, I can see where you are coming from. I had something along the lines idea wise, and stuff like this will always divide opinion. But forgive me, I've not had a mad session for ages, and I've got a reputation to uphold :funny:
Cheers mate:thumbs:

The problem is if we don't follow ideas we can easily miss that great piece. All I can say is keep having those mad sessions and nothing to forgive:funny:

It takes al lot to set to on a piece more so if it has no faults

Thanks for your honesty mate. And you're right I can take it. If I was worried about criticism, I would never post anything. True for all of us. I'm no professional turner, and I learnt some time ago to be comfortable with what I make, and thats good enough for me.
