By the time my DeWalt extreme 2 bits need sharpening the spiral cutting is tired also the company used to include a warning most parts of these drills are sharp and can cut you use caution when handling. Several hundreds of drillings suits me fine once cut 500 blanks with one 7mm the tiny tiny cost per blank compared with kit, blank material glue and time they pay for themselves, some of our timbers really give drills gyp Red Mallee Burl, Hairy Oak and others Ebony from Africa I rarely ever count the number of holes I drill bit this was when I first started using them best part of 15 plus years ago. I have never altered the speed of the drill press I use and tend to drill in sessions of hundreds almost continually running there is no way I could manage this output drilling on the lathe with my odd shaped blanks.Only ever had the metric drills and most equivalents or near enough drills have not been a problem. Just my experiences works for me.

Peter.
