Yes we all need a new mandrel any excuse to buy more kit init?
No you don't as Alex said just change the bushes to suit your kit they will also have a 7mm internal diameter or there about.

Hi Dylan you don't need a new mandrel just a new set of bushes for each type on pen you want to make and they all fit on the 7mm mandrel

Strictly speaking the mandrel diameter should be 1/4" (about 6.35mm). If yours is 7mm it might be a 'B' mandrel (curious beast - quite rare this side of the pond). If so then yes you may well need a new mandrel. Note that I'm talking about the diameter of the rod itself, NOT the outer diameter of the pen tubes you turn on it.
