Hi All,
I put this in wood but it was fu#@ing ba#@tardly, nasty, horrible ply....it didn't want to be turned...I tried gouges, skews, carbide...in the end a backswept finger gouge and light cuts before 60grit paper...I'm glad I did this before the Titanic blank...I became very gentle with this handgrenade...

I'm trying to work out what the blank looked like.
Have you any photographs before turning???
I'll take some pics of the other 2 pieces I have....its just construction ply with paint on the outside. I have turned loads of ply before, but most have been resin impregnated or purposes made, this just wanted to delaminate

If you are able, try to cast some clear resin approx 4mm thick over the blue paint, I have found that by doing this you can retain some of the paint in the final pen, the only issue with this is that you have to drill out for the tube very, very close to the rear of the blue paint, but if you get it just right, it can turn out really nice.
