After speaking with a few members regarding dust extraction and coming to the conclusion that wearing a respirator is not enough,I've been looking for a cheap dust extractor.
I have 2 main machines that create dust in my workshop,a sander and of course,my lathe.
Here's the extractor I've been looking at:
SIP 01929 Workshop Dust and Chip Collector Extractor Hose & Adaptor Set | eBay
And the kit:
100mm Dust Extraction Accessory Kit - Extraction Accessories - Dust Extraction & Wood Waste - Wood Working | Axminster.co.uk
my sander and lathe are pretty close together so I've come up with something like this;
Extractor with a 1.5m hose and a T or a Y splitter on the end of this with 3 meter hoses on the splitter,both with blast gates fitted as both machines will never run at the same time,1 hose leading to the sander and the other to the lathe.
I have a few questions;
a) will my setup be sufficient? I will still be wearing a respirator but the extractor should remove the bulk of the dust,ideally I'm looking to do it as cheap as possible,currently I can do it for under £200
b) at the ends of the hoses,do I need a hood or will the hose be sufficient in collecting the dust? On my belt sander,the hose will be positioned at the bottom of the belt,that's where the dust tends to collect.
Thanks in advance!
