Dusting brush

I've used a dusting brush on my hand tools for years it was an old emulsion brush that if I'm honest had seen better days but the thought of paying £14 for the Lie Nielson version https://www.classichandtools.com/acatalog/Lie-Nielsen-Toolcare.html was a step too far.

So when I was over at a painter mates the other day I saw this,

Which got the grey matter stirring, so after carefully holding the brush in the lathe chuck & truing up the ferrule I turned a piece of Padauk & came up with this.

Finished it with a couple of coats of Shellac sanding sealer & gave it a whirl.

My hand planes have never been so dust free

Lovely bit of wood, nicely turned and finished and matches the brush really well

I might have a go at one of these

If I can get enough shed time, which is mighty little time recently
