Very nearly did not post this but then thought I don't really mind being laughed at and ridiculed by my peers.

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I posted a photo of a shock absorber pen I had made that had split open when I pressed it together.

Well today I decided to strip it down to try and rescue the kit,
armed with nothing but my vice and a pair of pliers I went to work.
I managed to get out the part from the end that was split and whilst looking at it thought it looked different extracted to what it looked like when I inserted it.
I looked inside the blank and noticed some shiny metal at the top of the tube,
Back to the trusty pliers I managed to get the shiny thing released.

It was at that moment my heart sank and I almost died of embarrassment,
What suddenly dawned on me was that the only reason the blank split was that the shiny round thing was in fact the key ring (you know the split ring thing that goes through the loop) :goesred::goesred::goesred:

I my defence I will say that I never put it on the end and I genuinely thought it was missing.
I can safely say it was not one of my finest moments :goesred:

Prior to putting any kit together, always check the tube.... I have a small round file that I pass through a couple of times (both ends) to ensure no glue or resin is left inside....

Well I'm going to be the nasty person who burst out laughing. :funny:

But to temper that I'd say we've all done something silly enough to make us turn around to see if anyone has noticed, brave of you to post. :thumbs: Bet it doesn't happen a second time di you manage to rescue all the parts without damage?

Thing is it wasn't in the tube until I stupidly pressed it in. It was around the end cap part that goes inside the tube :goesred:
Worst thing is that it actually looked OK as the ring diameter just happens to be the same diameter as the turned blank my biggest mistake was looking at images on this 'ere interweb thingy. [MENTION=361]Lons[/MENTION] Yes rescued it all :thumbs: (I Hope)
