Once had a group buy on here of them from Axminster ...there were varying reports but general consensus was that they were of poor quality. I found them OK ...just !

Do any of our forum members have experience of the empress pen kits available via Axminster Empress Pens - Pen & Pencil Kits - Pen & Pencil Kits - Woodturning - Woodturning & Crafts | Axminster Tools & Machinery

Do you like them?

Any pros and cons

:thinks::thinks::thinks:

i bought some the other week and I've made 2. i did one in an inlace acrylester blank from Vincent at turners workshop called molten metal an i have to say it looked good. I've got a few kits left so if you'd like to try one let me know. you'd need the bushes unless you can turn without them.

Hi Billy I still have quite a few of them if your going pass any time you can have one to try I also have a spare set of bushes as well I think they have upgraded them recently personally I wouldn't give you a flying fart for them if you like them I want to get rid at £3 a kit plus P/P F/P and R/B first come first served

if id known that before i bought mine i would have had them off you Woody. i think they look best in a bold striking acrylic blank. I've certainly had interest in them. i might have a couple of fp off you mate.

I done a bulk buy of 10 to get the extra 25% discount from Axi. Only done one up to yet and thought it looked a bit bulky it started to grow on me. Shown it to a mate who thought it was fantastic and paid the asking price with no quibble.

If you want one to give it a try PM me and I will pop one in the post. You can get the bushes from Axi cheap enough.

I like them have sold about 15 and they command a premium price, they don't command it, I do. Certain cultural differences make these desirable to certain ethnic minorities.

I now have some convertors that fit although only one of them offers more ink than the cartridge they come with, I am working on one of my own to see if I can better the quality. They are just the right size for 10yr olds and up as their first fountain pen. I have never had a problem with them.

I bought some in their sale. They're very blingy but some people like that so they'll sell. Wow if I was sailing there that would be three uses of the word.

I still have a few left and just keep one made up though
