Engraving question.

I have searched the forum but I'm not sure I've got the definitive answer I need, so I'm going to pose my question here for all to give advise please......
I'm making a pair of matching pens for a friend who's getting married. My wife has picked the pens and blanks. ( She found my secret stash and found a diamond dust blank to make the pens and some diamond dust blanks for pens for her too)
So I've set to and prepped the blanks. Started to turn one of them and then mentioned to the wife that they should be engraved with "Mr & Mrs"..... Yep she agrees. But it has to be in silver because its a dark purple and blue blank and your getting chrome and satin kits aren't you....

So how do you engrave the pens and then get the engraving to be silver, as I have tried this previously and the silver paint that I put in the engraving just smeared out and left the engraving very patchy and these need to be very clean and crisp and classy...... Help please...

Engraving a Diamond dust blank is possible but engraving and infill may not be the right way to go as in my view would detract from the class of the pen..

However, what is the best way to do it is in my view as follows.

Turn the blank down to around 1mm of the required diameter.
Engrave the details required.
Infill with an acrylic / epoxy mixture done to the colour required.
Allow the epoxy to set and then return back to the lathe to turn down the engraved area.
You may need to fill in some of the engraved area once turned down but that could be done with CA to fill any voids.
Finally turn down to size and finish.

What I would say is that usually the same colour pen doesn't always suit both parties and often a different colour usually is the preferred option. Unless of course if it's white.

What I would say is that in my personal view is that it just detracts from the class of pen and I would advise to have the pens presented in a wooden box

Either with both names engraved on the top of one double box with date tied the knot
Or two boxes one with Mrs ***** on top and the other with Mr **** on top along with the date they tied the knot.

Just been watching some videos on this product. If applied and buffed across a etched or engraved surface, can you then buff away the finished surface (leaving color in the engraved low spots)? Buffing wheel? This might be the solution to a lot of things...

I'm inclined to agree with Silver, if you have a 'complicated' colour then engraving will detract from the look, but a nice wooden box with a laser engraving would enhance the present and add to the perceived value.
