I made my first Mistral today and must say it's a fine kit however I should have read the instructions first. Deciding to put a bit of shape in to the barrel I tapered it and of course when it came to putting it together I'd gone the wrong way against the different size bushes if you know what I mean. Nevertheless I finished it as made to serve as a warning to myself to pay more attention in future. The finish, following on from lots of recent posts is chestnut melamine. Sanded to 400 and burnish. 5 coats of melamine applied at 300 revs and burnish each one with a bit of tissue at 1200 revs. Finish off with a coat of micro wax. Very quick and I was pleasantly surprised at the finish. Will be doing more in future, thanks Phil and Walter.
