We were given this Eucalyptus for firewood, last year. The whole trunk had this rippling along its length!
Unfortunately, most of it was already busy tearing itself apart, with star and ring shakes everywhere.
I managed to get a few blanks from it, though I think this is the last one.

Might have to scour the log shed to see if any stragglers survived!

Neil

Neil,

Having cut this neat blank was an acheivement sometimes we put of the necessary treatment to safely dry bet it burned well. The pollution laws are getting so we live in a valley and the govt try everything to discourage us from having openfires especially and stringent smoke control because of inversions in the winter so discoveries are few and far between here these days.

Well seen and the ring marking soft and beautiful.

Kind regards Peter.

Thanks guys!
Back to work tomorrow, and though this is now thankfully part time, I won't have much turning time in the near future
New bigger bandsaw should be arriving at the end of next week, and I've only tidied up enough to get it in the workshop!
Loads of wood waiting to be blanked!
Regards,
Neil
