One set is Zebra and the other is Mesquite. Do you think the Zebra is too busy?

Pairs great never too busy in the serpentines very careful lines neatly turned enjoyed seeing them Terry I rather like your choice of kit for these one piece pens saves interupting the patterns.

Think they look great Terry, Peter is dead right on the choice of kit, the exec or any one piece looks lovely. Think your concerns over the zebrano could be justified if the wood was very contrasting and the black/cream lines were very fine, but this piece works well.

Only issue I have with the exec is that the mechanism is very (relatively) stiff which puts a few potential purchasers off.

Yep, what they said.

Both look great to me, I do however prefer the Mesquite set, but that's just personal preference.

I admire the effort in these blanks, the jointing is amazing.
