Executive spalted beech

Made this today from an Executive kit, from Axminster sale, and covered it in spalted beech. Finished with CA.

Not sure if I like it. I looks dirty. May have to strip it and try a different wood.

I can see what you mean by looking dirty Mike but it is sure well turned and finished !!!!

Very nicely turned and finished.
I think the gold plating is too muck for the wood, a chrome/silver or black Ti would give a better contrast.

Still a nice looking pen Mike, i am sure it will take someone's fancy as it has an old rustic look to it ..

Unfortunately some spalted wood looks like that when its just not got enough black but its still a pen that I would be proud to own. Its turned and finished very nicely.

Well I think it looks a super bit of turning and a great finish to boot well done

Lower the temperature and brighten the pic and you can see the spalt a bit better.

Forgive my ignorance, maybe it is the photo, but is this a squat kit as the perspective looks a bit wrong!

It's quite a chunky pen. 18mm diameter, 145mm with the cap on, and 133mm with the cap off.

Mike it is difficult to imagine your pen in different surroundings but in my opinion theres nowt wrong with your pen and penmaking.
