I visited an Exotic wood supplier on Saturday and come away with some ebony (i think), it's black as coal, cold and smooth to touch, i also got some pink wood.
Got to look through my book and find out what that one is.

The black wood could be African Blackwood., method of distinguishing the two, if it is in a nice rectangular block, is to accurately weigh it and measure it. Blackwood is about 20% heavier than ebony,

Yep, just consulted my wood book and it Pink Ivory. I got the smallest splinter from it and it hurt like hell.

The black wood is African Ebony, when i cut this into blanks it looked like soot on the shed floor. Can't wait to start on these woods especially the ebony.
