I have to agree with Terry, that's one beautiful pen!!
I turned some very old Olive a while back, mine was extremely dry and bullet hard, it fought all the way! :rant:

That looks great, I use mostly Scottish hardwoods for anything that I make but had to start buying a little bit of Olive wood when one of my granddaughters was born & was named Olive lol
I make my own blanks from offcuts from other projects & always try to either cross-cut or diagonally cut.
