Facets again...

Many weeks ago, I posted a couple of prototype designs for a faceted pen idea I had. Lesson Number One: When using a triple start cap thread, the facets will only line up between cap and body a third of the time on an octagonal pen. Solution: Try a hexagon. ("Greg - you are an idiot sometimes.") This one features a DiamondCast blank and nickel clip with hexagonal clip ring, 13mm cap threads, and Bock #6 nib.

Wow,great combination Greg.I have not used plastic only timber so far and also choose a hexagon.Cutting fine threads on timber is a nightmare. Love the pen.

I have started sleeving wood with an acrylic liner for that reason - I can have the look and feel of wood, but then the threads cut into something slightly more tap/die friendly. Got one on the lathe like that now. Pix to follow upon completion.

Thanks! No - It's "Ecto Purple." Purple with slight grain of black throughout...great blank.

Ah, Ok thanks. That Tim [MENTION=1837]McKenzie Penworks[/MENTION] eh? He hasn't shown me that one yet. Got Ecto Blue in stock but not Ecto Purple. I must have words!

Sleeving is a beaut way to go thanks Greg,look forward to this coming one as well.If I can get over our heat spell I would like to make a hex or two soon in timber.,
